Magic Singles » Ice Age Block
We are still on Dominaria, and an event originally triggered by the Sylex blast has now finally occurred; the energy of twelve planes fused into The Shard of Twelve Worlds, which encased Dominaria away from the rest of the Multiverse, trapping planeswalkers inside the shard and preventing others from entering it. This caused the beginning of the Ice Age, where all major civilizations have now collapsed from the ongoing wars and the ice. Urza had been corrupted by Yawgmoth after his attempt to stop the Phyrexians failed, and is having his mind healed.

Coldsnap
Terisiare, the island continent that was home to the Brothers. War and the Ice Age, is in a state of rebirth known as the Thaw. The icy shell that encased the continent is melting away. Most of the inhabitants of Terisiare rejoice as the ice gives way to warmth and the rebirth of the land. But, in this time of great change, there are some who see it as a time to angle for power: a secretive society of mages poised to shroud the continent with their icy brand of magic.
Coldsnap Theme Deck Reprints
Like other theme decks, Coldsnap theme decks used cards available in its block. This created reprints of Ice Age and Alliances cards. These reprints were different from the originals in that they had expansion symbol rarity coloring (in addition to being slightly redesigned), have collector numbers, and were printed featuring the new card frame.
Alliances
After the planeswalker Freyalise cast her World Spell, thereby ending the Ice Age, a population long adapted to the cold had to re-adjust to warm weather. With the new climate came devastating floods and plagues, and the necromancer Lim-Dûl has built an army of undead bent on world domination. An alliance is formed between races to defeat Lim-Dûl and his army.

The strong have turned to barbarism. The weak have died. Their struggle is against more than the snow: the people of Kjeldor must battle against the mighty necromancer Lim-D.
